About this book

New York City has set a bold goal: by 2035, every student in grades 3–8 should be reading on grade level. Strong instruction is part of the answer. The other part is giving kids books they actually want to read.

For every $10 you donate, Stories of a Colorful World places a BIPOC-authored book in a New York City classroom. These are books where children can see themselves, and see into the lives of others. That's what turns a student who can read into one who loves to read.

How it works

  • Choose how many books you'd like to donate.
  • We curate titles for each classroom's grade level and community.
  • Books are delivered to partner classrooms. Your gift counts toward our goal of 2,000 books for 20 classrooms.

Donated books go to classrooms and are not shipped to you.
